A decent option for the Ninja Creami. Works well enough, but there are better choices in the rankings. Decent option if it's on sale.

The Review

It’s almost impossible to walk through a supplement aisle without seeing the iconic red-and-black tub of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. When the massive bags went on sale at Costco, we had to see if this industry titan could hold its own in the Ninja Creami. The name "Vanilla Ice Cream" sets a high bar, promising a rich, nostalgic sweetness. Unfortunately, the cold dampens this profile significantly. While the powder promises results just by the name alone, the flavor becomes muted and thin once processed. It lacks the bold, aromatic punch needed to cut through the base liquid, leaving you with a pint that tastes "vaguely sweet" rather than "decadently vanilla." Where ON shines is in its technical performance. Because it’s a high-quality whey blend, the texture is consistently smooth and avoids the chalkiness found in cheaper alternatives. Macros: It remains the gold standard for a reason—low fat, low carb, and high protein. Mixability: It incorporates beautifully into the base, resulting in a predictable, reliable scoop every time. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to hit your protein goals and you have the pantry space for a Costco-sized bag, you could do much worse. However, if you’re chasing a gourmet dessert experience, this might feel a bit utilitarian. It’s a solid "B" student: it follows the instructions, but it lacks the soul of a truly great ice cream.

Hasn't Impressed Us Yet

Optimum Nutrition is a household name in protein, but their powders don't translate well to the Ninja Creami. Across 5 flavors tested, the average score sits at 4.0 — the lowest of any brand we've reviewed. The texture tends to be icy and the flavor profile is flat compared to brands built with ice cream in mind. We'd recommend spending your money elsewhere for Creami-specific use.
