A strong performer in the Ninja Creami. Solid texture and flavor with good macros — a reliable choice for your rotation. Worth buying.
The Review
Transparent Labs is a brand that generally lives up to its name with clean labels and high-quality sourcing, and their French Vanilla whey is no exception when it comes to the "standard pipeline" performance. In the Ninja Creami, this powder is a textural dream—it yields a result that is bright, smooth, and impressively clean on the palate. Thanks to the whey base, it avoids the common pitfalls of chalkiness or that lingering "bean" grit you often find in plant-based alternatives. If you follow a solid base recipe, you aren’t going to run into many technical issues here; it’s a consistent performer that handles the blade well. I didn't even have ice remaining on the bottom of the pint with this spin.
However, we need to talk about the "vanilla" in the room. There is a well-documented phenomenon in food science where certain vanilla aromatics can skew toward a dominating coconut profile, and this powder is a prime example. While the initial taste is pleasant and sweet, the finish is unmistakably coconut-forward. It is absolutely not a pure vanilla experience. If you went into this expecting the deep, authentic bean flavor of a high-end French custard, you’re going to be disappointed by the tropical detour.
Don't get me wrong—is it tasty? Absolutely. It feels high-end and the mouthfeel is spot on. but it lacks the authentic vanilla identity I’m looking for in a staple flavor. If I were specifically craving a coconut-infused treat, I’d likely reach for something like Ascent, which lean into that profile more successfully. For a daily-driver vanilla that actually tastes like vanilla, this one misses the mark. It's a solid product, but for the price and the flavor profile, it’s not an automatic re-buy for me when there are more accurate vanillas on the shelf.
